TNT
I love watching shows like law and order, las vegas, without a trace, etc. I find them to be very interesting and I love always being on the edge when I watch them, but it wasn't until recently when I started to think, are the things the lawyers and detectives do in these shows realistic? I know that everything is most likely exaggerated and I think that is what makes these shows as interesting as they are, but are the ways the detectives go about solving murders and cases realistic? If so, doesn't it make it harder for people with these careers to carry out there every day jobs when they are being broadcasted on television series? I love watching murders, robberies and what not being solved and the clues and evidence that leads the police to close the case and I think that if these tactics are what our local police and detectives use, then I feel I have a better understanding of what they do for society. I don't know, just a thought... I am going to get back to watching my shows! =)

Philanthropies
Even if you are not greek, I think it is important for everyone to try to get involved in philantropies. They are events and/or charity events that help raise money for good causes. Each chapter has a different cause and I just wanted to say I think everyone should keep an eye open for this great opportunities to get involved!

Housing situation!
Next year I wil be living in Pi Beta Phi with a bunch of my best friends. I am so excited to have the opportunity to be able to live in a house with such wonderful people and there are so many benefits that come along with it. We have cooks and a house mom that takes care of any needs or situations we need help with. The one thing that kinda sucks is that we don't get to pick who we room with the first semester in the house because the older girls do that for us so we can get to know more people in our pledge class. I think this is a great idea because people get out of their clicks and groups of friends and get to hang around with other people. The bad side is that I don't want to live with someone who is super messy or what not. I guess I'll just have to wait and see when I get back next year!!

Bourne
I recently watched the Bourne Identity series and could not help but think, what if this situation really has happened, what if someone had lost their identity and did not know that they had been controlled by the government. It was not until I re watched these movies when I began to contemplate these issues because before they were just movies to me. How horrible would it be to find out that you or someone close to you had to overcome an issue as this. I do not think I would be able to trust the government or anyone I did not know personally ever again, although if you lost your memory of who you were, it would be impossible to trust those you knew because you cannot remember them. Sometimes I think I over think movies, they should just be entertainment, but sometimes I can't help but involve myself in the situations or plots.

NIU Shooting
I was in complete shock when I heard about the shooting that happened at Northern Illinois University. I have several friends that attend the University and I hearing that people had been shot and killed scared me. It sad to think that people actually want to harm others for no apparent reason, although it was known that the killer had not taken his medication he needed to maintain his health. It is unfortunate that Kazmierczak, the killer took the lives of 7 people, including himself. I feel that if someone takes the lives of others, he or she should take responsibility for it, and taking your own life is not fair because it is the easy way out of not having to deal with the consequences. I don't understand why people do things such as this.

RECYCLE!
I am really getting annoyed with the extended winters and the random snow in the spring. We all know what these weather conditions are from, global warming. Most of the warming is due to greenhouse gases and pollutants that we put into the atmosphere. We have to learn to live a life that does not pollute the air as greatly as it does, because in the end it is only hurting us and the way we live our lives in the future. I think that everyone should recycle and there should not be any excuses not to, after all it is just the difference of putting it in a different container or walking your recycling bin to the end of your driveway at the end of the week. ( The same thing you do with your garbage anyway) These small steps are important in perserving out earth and even though we are only slightly affected by global warming today, it is only going to worsen in the future.

Barack!
Since I am not really that involved with politics, this upcoming election does not affect me greatly. To be completely honest, I doubt I will even vote. Even thought it is not that big of a deal to me, I was excited to see that Barack had won over Maine this Sunday. He had 57% to Hillary Clinton's 42%. If I were to pick a side or a canidate, it would be Barack because I am from Illinois and I am biased towards him only because of that. I wish I was more involved with new information about the canidates, but as for now hearing about it here and there is fine with me!

xanga to myspace to facebook
im pretty sure that everyone at IU or at least for the most part have or has a xanga, myspace or a fcaebook. I used to have a xanga before i even knew what blogging really was. i just wanted it because all my friends had one and i thought it was interesting to see what people had to say. Then along came myspace which ended up doing nothin but get people in trouble and for creepy people to look at. Myspace was better than xanga for me tho because it had pictures, movies, music, etc. Anything you wanted you could potentially put on your myspace. I thought i was set with it, until I heard of facebook. Once after i got my facebook i was addicted. Ill admit i love looking at other peoples pictures and walls, its intertaining. I know everyone is saying to be careful with what you put on your facebook because it could get you in trouble, but i just update my privacy settings. I really dont think i would be able to delete my facebook anytime soon because it is my source of entertainment when i have nothing to do or just dont want to do my work.

Super Bowl!
One of the best parts about the super bowl is that if you don't have a tv in front of you, it is being broadcasting online and on the radio. I think the best way of enjoying the super bowl would be to actually be there in person, but since A LOT of people do not have that opportunity, it's cool how there are so many other ways you can get involved in the game. Being a bears fan, aka I hate the colts, I was so happy to see the Giants take over in the fourth quarter!
